How it is worked out

Numerology reads the full birth name — the one on the birth certificate, not a short form or a married name. Aarav and Aaru are not the same number.
- 2Give every letter its value
Use the table above. Skip spaces and punctuation, and use every other letter.
- 3Add the vowels for Soul Urge
A, E, I, O and U only. This shows what you want, not what you show to others.
- 4Add the consonants for Personality
Everything else. This is the part people meet first.
- 5Add everything for Destiny
Add the vowels and the consonants together. That is the same as adding every letter, so the two sums above have to come to this one.
- 6Reduce each total, but keep 11, 22 and 33
Every total comes down to a single digit, except the three master numbers. Those are kept as they are. A 29 becomes 11 and stops there rather than going on to 2.
- 7The date is separate
Life Path reduces the day, the month and the year one at a time and then adds them. Mulank is just the day. Neither has anything to do with your name, which is why changing your name does not change them.

Most Western books use Pythagorean: A to I is 1 to 9, then it repeats. Chaldean is older. It goes by sound rather than order, and it never uses 9. That is why the same name can score differently on two sites that are both doing the arithmetic correctly.
