How the two are worked out
- Mulank: the day of birth Only the day of the month, added down to one digit. Born on the 25th: 2 + 5 = 7. It describes your nature.
- Bhagyank: the whole date Day, month and year, each added down, then together. It describes the direction of your life.
- Each number has a graha 1 Surya, 2 Chandra, 3 Guru, 4 Rahu, 5 Budh, 6 Shukra, 7 Ketu, 8 Shani, 9 Mangal: the graha gives the number its nature, its lucky days and colours, and its upay.
- Always 1 to 9 A sum that passes through 11, 22 or 33 is kept as a note beside the number ("2, from 11"), never as the number itself.
