Left to right, all of them. Country codes, state codes, spaces, hyphens and letters make no difference — only the digits count, and every digit counts once.

A plain sum. This first total is usually two or three digits.
- 3Reduce until one digit is left
Add the digits of the total, and keep going. 47 becomes 11, and 11 becomes 2.
- 4There are no master numbers here
11, 22 and 33 are held in a birth name or a birth date, because those were given to you. A number you were assigned at a counter is reduced all the way — an 11 is a 2.
