The naming ceremony, usually on the eleventh or twelfth day.
There are 3 shubh days for namkaran in January 2027: 4, 8 and 20 January. The strongest is Wednesday, 20 January 2027, at 94%. 2 more days have a muhurat that falls under Bhadra (Vishti karana, the half-tithi kept clear of new work) or lasts under half an hour, and are not counted.
Every day listed already meets the rules below. The % only ranks them against each other: it weighs the day’s tithi, nakshatra, weekday, yoga and karana for this work, and 80% and up is the strongest.
3 shubh days for namkaran in January 2027; below, every day of the month, shubh or not, and why.
Namkaran is the sanskar in which the baby’s name is first spoken. Manusmriti (2.30) puts it on the tenth or twelfth day after birth, and many North Indian families keep the eleventh or twelfth. After a small puja or havan, the father or an elder says the name into the baby’s right ear, and the first letter is often taken from the birth nakshatra.

Clock times are for New Delhi; they move with sunrise, by up to about an hour across India. The tithi and the nakshatra are the same everywhere. For your own city, use the namkaran muhurat finder.
These are the rules the standard panchangs apply for this work; they go back to the classical muhurat texts, Muhurta Chintamani above all.
Muhurta Chintamani sorts the 27 nakshatras by nature: fixed (dhruva), for what is meant to last; swift (kshipra), for trade, learning and quick starts; soft (mridu), for gentle things such as friendship and music; movable (chara), for what moves, such as travel. This work takes the fixed ones (Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada), the swift ones (Ashwini, Pushya, Hasta), the soft ones (Mrigashira, Chitra, Anuradha, Revati) and the movable ones (Punarvasu, Swati, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha). It leaves out the rikta (“empty”) tithis, Chaturthi, Navami and Chaturdashi, which are kept clear of beginnings, and Amavasya, the dark night. Its table also leaves out Shukla Shashthi and Ashtami, and Krishna Shashthi and Ashtami, which it does not count among this work’s tithis. Sunday is Surya’s day, Tuesday is Mangal’s day and Saturday is Shani’s day, and Surya, Mangal and Shani are krura (harsh) grahas: those days are left out.
