Your gemstone
and the second stone

The primary stone from your Moon sign and a second one from the lagna, each with the graha it is worn for. The graha is the rashi's own lord, so naming it is part of the reading and not decoration.

What comes back
  • The primary stone, from the rashi the Moon was in

We will use noon and mark the reading. Your Moon sign, nakshatra, tithi and dashas stay reliable — they move slowly. Your ascendant, houses and any yoga that depends on them will be shown as unconfirmed, because the lagna changes sign roughly every two hours.

Both are read the same way. Take the rashi, then the graha that rules it, and wear that graha’s stone. The first uses the rashi the Moon was in, and the second the rashi rising. When those two share a lord, the answer is the same stone twice.

The Nine Planetary Gemstones

Sun: Ruby (Manik). Moon: Pearl (Moti). Mars: Red Coral (Moonga). Mercury: Emerald (Panna). Jupiter: Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj). Venus: Diamond (Heera). Saturn: Blue Sapphire (Neelam). Rahu: Hessonite (Gomed). Ketu: Cat's Eye (Lehsunia). Each must be worn on the correct finger, in the right metal, on the designated day.

Important Precautions

Never wear a gemstone without proper astrological consultation. Blue Sapphire and Hessonite should be tested for 3 days before regular wear. Always use natural, untreated gemstones of minimum prescribed weight. Activate the stone with its mantra before first wearing. If a stone causes discomfort, remove it immediately.

How Are Gemstones Recommended?

In Vedic astrology, gemstones are recommended based on your Moon sign (Rashi) and Ascendant (Lagna). The primary gemstone strengthens the ruling planet of your Moon sign, while a secondary stone supports the Ascendant lord. Each gemstone absorbs and transmits specific planetary energies that can enhance favorable influences in your life.
