What a one card reading is for
and when to use another oneUse this when one thing is on your mind and you want a straight look at it. A card in the morning, a decision you have already half made, a mood you cannot name. One card does not take a situation apart and is not trying to. It gives you one image and asks what you make of it.
If the thing has a history and a direction, take the three-card reading. If you want to be told what to do, take Situation, action, outcome. If the real question is yes or no, take Yes or no. One card will answer it, but the answer will be your reading of a picture rather than a count you can check.
Look at the picture before you read the words. Notice what the figure is doing, which way they are facing, and what is behind them. Then read the meaning underneath and notice where the two disagree. That difference is usually the reading.

It can answer one thing. What it cannot do is take a situation apart, which is what the three- and ten-card readings are for. If you find yourself pulling a second card to explain the first, you wanted a bigger spread.
Should I pull a card every morning?
Many readers do, and it is the usual way people learn the deck. Seventy-eight cards get familiar much faster one a day than ten at a time. Ask what today needs rather than what will happen today.
I do not understand the card I got.
