The third quarter of Ashwini: a Gemini navamsa, naam akshar Cho, and a birth that starts in Ketu’s mahadasha with 3.5 years to 1.8 years of it left.
Ashwini pada 3 is the third 3°20′ of Ashwini, 6°40′ Aries – 10°00′ Aries, in Aries. A Moon here is named by the syllable Cho and falls in a Gemini navamsa.
Gand Mool nakshatra. Ashwini is one of the six Gand Mool nakshatras; many families keep a Mool shanti for a birth in any of its padas, though the junction pada is read as the stronger.
Gand Mool are the six nakshatras on the seams where a water sign gives way to a fire sign: Ashwini, Magha and Mula, ruled by Ketu, and Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati, ruled by Budh. The Mool shanti is traditionally done on the 27th day after birth, when the Moon returns to the birth nakshatra.
Ashwini in Brihat Jataka (16.1) Brihat Jataka says a person born with the Moon in Ashwini is fond of ornaments and good to look at, well liked, skilled at their work and intelligent. (Chapter 16 reads several nakshatras in each verse, one after another.) The text reads the nakshatra as a whole; the pada refines it through its navamsa, below.
Ashwini gives the Moon its nature through Ketu; pada 3 sends it into a Gemini navamsa, ruled by Budh. The navamsa (D9) is the chart read for marriage and for the strength behind a placement, so in this pada Budh colours what Ashwini gives.
By natural friendship Budh counts Ketu neutral, and Ketu counts Budh neutral, so the navamsa neither helps nor hinders much.
The pada tradition reads each quarter by its navamsa’s element: an air navamsa makes this a Kama pada, turned towards desire, relationships and enjoyment.
Almost no Hindi names begin with Cho (चो). Families then often choose a name that begins with the nearest sound, or one of the nakshatra’s other syllables, and use Cho in the namkaran rite itself.

A Moon in Ashwini starts life in the mahadasha of Ketu, 7 years in all. How much is left at birth depends on how far the Moon had gone: at the start of pada 3 it is 3.5 years, at its end 1.8 years.
A suggestion, as your faith allows: the grahas this pada answers to, each on its own day.
14 June 1985, 05:00, New Delhi: the Moon at 8.96° Aries, in Ashwini pada 3, with Taurus rising. The engine gives 2 years, 3 months, 17 days of Ketu’s mahadasha left at birth.
In the 8,349 real births the site’s figures are counted on, 0.95% had the Moon in this pada, about one in 105.
Cho (चो). A child born with the Moon in this pada is traditionally given a name beginning with it.
Rashi Aries, navamsa Gemini. It runs 6°40′ Aries to 10°00′ Aries.
Ketu, with 3.5 years to 1.8 years of its 7 years left at birth, depending on the Moon’s exact degree.
Ashwini is a Gand Mool nakshatra, though this is not its junction pada. The six, and when the shanti is done, are explained above.
It needs a birth time, because the Moon crosses a nakshatra in about a day. The free kundli gives you the nakshatra, the pada and the dasha that follows from it.
