No dhaiyya right now · the next one starts in 2032
Dhaiyya (from dhai, two and a half), or small panoti, is Shani in the 4th (Kantaka Shani) or the 8th (Ashtama Shani) from your Moon rashi, about two and a half years each, longer when Shani turns back across the line. For Meen, it comes when Shani is in Mithun or in Tula. Shani is in Meen now, over the Meen Moon itself: that is Sade Sati for Meen (Shani over your Moon sign and the signs either side, about seven and a half years), not a dhaiyya. The Sade Sati pauses from 8 August 2029 until 4 October 2029, while Shani is in Vrishabh. It ends on 17 April 2030; Kantaka Shani then begins on 31 May 2032. For Meen, both dhaiyyas fall in signs where Shani is at ease, Mithun and Tula, which keeps them lighter than in an enemy’s sign.
Starts in 5 years 7 months · 31 May 2032
Also written Meena, Meenam. Dhaiyya is also spelt dhaiya or dhaya; in the south, Kantaka Shani is called Ardhashtama Shani.
Kantaka means a thorn; Ashtama, the eighth. Each has its own dates, and when Shani leaves a sign for a few months and comes back, the window runs from first entry to final exit.
Kantaka Shani
Shani in Mithun (Gemini), the 4th from your Moon
Next · 31 May 2032 to 13 July 2034
About 2 years 1 month. Shani enters Mithun on 31 May 2032 and leaves it on 13 July 2034, without turning back. By the classical rule (Phaladeepika 26.25), its heaviest part comes when Shani is in the last third of Mithun (20° to 30°): from 30 July 2033 until 13 July 2034.
Last time: 23 July 2002 to 26 May 2005.
Ashtama Shani
Shani in Tula (Libra), the 8th from your Moon
Later · 28 January 2041 to 30 August 2044
About 3 years 7 months. Shani enters Tula on 28 January 2041 and leaves it for the last time on 30 August 2044. In between, it steps back into Kanya from 6 February 2041 until 25 September 2041 (the dhaiyya pauses) and moves on into Vrishchik from 11 December 2043 until 22 June 2044 (the dhaiyya pauses). The first visit lasts only 9 days. By the classical rule (Phaladeepika 26.25), its heaviest part comes when Shani is in the last third of Tula (20° to 30°): from 16 December 2042 until 16 May 2043, from 12 September 2043 until 11 December 2043 and from 23 June 2044 until 30 August 2044.
Last time: 15 November 2011 to 2 November 2014.
Each reading rests on four things: the houses Shani rules counted from your Moon, the house it sits in, the three houses its gaze (drishti) falls on, and how comfortable Shani is in that sign, from exalted (uchcha, strongest) to debilitated (neecha, weakest). The rules are from Phaladeepika, Mantreswara’s classical Jyotish text.
Shani in a friend’s sign: at ease
Money coming in and money going out both run through the home for a Meen Moon when Shani is in Mithun, the 4th house. That is because Shani owns your 11th (income, gains, friends) and 12th (expenses, distant places, sleep). This can show as costs on the house or a move. Named Kantaka Shani, this transit touches home, mother, vehicles, property and peace of mind. Mithun is friendly to Shani and takes some of the edge off. Phaladeepika 26.22 still warns, for Shani in the 4th, of loss touching spouse, relatives and wealth.
From Mithun, Shani’s drishti also falls on Singh, Dhanu and Meen: your 6th (work under pressure, rivals, debts and illness), your 10th (work, status and dealings with seniors) and your 1st (your own health, confidence and how others see you).
What to do A written household account helps; think twice before pledging the house or a vehicle to lend money to a friend.
Shani exalted: at its fairest
Tula is Shani's sign of exaltation, and for a Meen Moon it is the 8th house. So Shani there makes Ashtama Shani, the dhaiyya of health, sudden events, hidden matters, in-laws and inheritance. By Phaladeepika (26.31) an exalted Shani does no harm, but the 8th is among the houses of Shani’s sharpest warning (Phaladeepika 26.33). Phaladeepika 26.22 warns, for Shani in the 8th, of losses touching children, friends and wealth, and of illness. For Meen, read that warning as much lighter, not as nothing. With your 11th (income, gains, friends) and 12th (expenses, distant places, sleep) in its charge, Shani brings gains, spending and friends into the 8th house.
From Tula, Shani’s drishti also falls on Dhanu, Mesh and Kark: your 10th (work, status and dealings with seniors), your 2nd (family, savings and the way you speak) and your 5th (children, studies and judgement).
Phaladeepika 26.22 is a single verse for Shani in each of the first eight houses from the Moon, which is why both dhaiyyas cite it.
What to do Keep money dealings with friends in writing, and keep up good sleep and a yearly check-up.
Shani’s Ashtakavarga points. The Ashtakavarga is a table of points (bindus) drawn from your birth chart. By Phaladeepika (26.41, 23.10), a transit goes easier through a sign where Shani holds many bindus (points) in your own chart: five or more of eight favours it, four is middling, fewer weigh more. Find Shani’s bindus in your chart.
The upay (remedies) families have kept through dhaiyya for generations. Free, and each with its reason.
Shani mantra · 108 times on Saturdays
ॐ शं शनैश्चराय नमः
Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah
Shani’s short mantra, built on its seed syllable “Sham”. Saying it every week without fail is itself the discipline Shani asks for.
Neelam (blue sapphire) is not a general dhaiyya remedy. It suits some charts and harms others, so wear it only after your own kundli has been checked.
Beside the Saturday routine every rashi shares, this one suits Meen in particular.
Guru rules your Moon sign and is neutral towards Shani, so strengthening Guru keeps your judgement steady through the dhaiyya: on Thursdays, the day tradition gives to Guru, recite the Brihaspati Kavach, Guru's hymn of protection, or chant Om Graam Greem Graum Sah Gurave Namah 108 times. On the same day, give chana dal and turmeric to a teacher or at a temple, the daan (charity) tradition sets for Guru.
Your own kundli decides how it goes.

Take the site’s sample kundli: born 15 July 1990, 2:30 PM, in Mumbai. The Moon is in Meen, so its next dhaiyya is Kantaka Shani, Shani in Mithun, from 31 May 2032 to 13 July 2034, the same dates as for every Meen Moon. Four things make it this chart’s own.
Another Meen Moon shares these dates and almost none of the rest. Two Meen Moons are the same: the dates on this page are theirs alike, and what they bring is not.
Every dhaiyya and Sade Sati for Meen in order. Meen is in Sade Sati now, until 17 April 2030. The dates are sidereal (Lahiri ayanamsa, the Government of India standard), which is one reason another site may differ.

Two rashis are in a dhaiyya at a time: the one whose 4th Shani is in, and the one whose 8th. When Shani spends a few months in the next sign and comes back, the dhaiyya moves to the next two rashis for those months and then returns.

No dhaiyya, but Sade Sati, which runs until 17 April 2030. Shani is in Meen now, over the Meen Moon itself.
Kantaka Shani from 31 May 2032 to 13 July 2034; Ashtama Shani from 28 January 2041 to 30 August 2044.
Kantaka Shani is Shani in the 4th from the Moon, read for home, mother, property and peace of mind. Ashtama Shani is Shani in the 8th, read for health, sudden events and in-laws. For Meen, Kantaka Shani is Shani in Mithun, and Ashtama Shani is Shani in Tula.
Both weigh, for different reasons. Kantaka Shani falls in Mithun (a friend’s sign for Shani), which keeps it lighter than an enemy’s sign would. Ashtama Shani falls in Tula (where Shani is exalted), which does no harm (Phaladeepika 26.31); but the 8th is among the houses of Shani’s sharpest warning (Phaladeepika 26.33), so read it as much lighter, not as nothing. How much you feel it depends on your lagna (rising sign), your dasha and Shani’s bindus in your chart.
The free ones on this page: the Saturday routine every rashi shares (the Shani mantra, the Hanuman Chalisa, a diya under a pipal, seva for workers and elders), and the one that suits Meen in particular, with its reason. Wear blue sapphire only after your own kundli has been checked.
What a dhaiyya brings is read from your whole chart: your lagna, your dasha and where Shani sits.
