What Guru gives in the 11th house by Lal Kitab and by Phaladeepika, its upay, the houses it looks at from there, and what it means for each lagna.
Jupiter in the 11th house gives gains from wise friends, elder siblings, and fulfilment of all desires.
Lal Kitab reads Guru in the 11th house by the house, not by your lagna; Parashara’s view for your own lagna is further down, and Phaladeepika and Brihat Jataka may differ. How Lal Kitab and Parashara differ · Lal Kitab: pakka ghar, rin and upay
Offer bananas and turmeric at a temple on Thursdays.
This is Lal Kitab’s one upay for Guru in the 11th house, to keep its good results strong; it is a suggestion, and your whole kundli may call for another. All upay for Guru
Phaladeepika 8.16 holds that Guru (Jupiter) in the 11th house (the house of gains) gives wealth, fearlessness and a long life. The text adds vehicles, but only a few children.
How much of this holds turns on the rest of the chart: the rashi Guru sits in, the 11th house’s lord and the grahas with it or looking at it. The old texts speak of a man; their readings apply to anyone.
BJ 20.7: Guru in the 11th gives large gains and prosperity.
Its results show most in Guru’s own mahadasha (16 years) and in its antardashas inside the others. The 11th house’s matters also come forward in the periods of the house’s lord, which depends on your lagna.
Its drishti (a graha’s glance: the houses it looks at feel its influence) from the 11th, by the rules our kundli reading weighs houses with:
The 11th house, Labha bhava, rules income, gains, elder siblings and friends; it is an upachaya (the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th houses, which grow better with time and effort); its karaka (the graha that naturally signifies a house’s matters, whatever the lagna) is Guru. The 11th house, and every graha in it
| Lagna | Guru sits in | Its state there | Lord of your | For this lagna |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mesh (Aries) | Kumbh (Aquarius) | Neutral | 9th and 12th | Benefic |
| Vrishabh (Taurus) | Meen (Pisces) | Own rashi | 8th and 11th | Malefic · Maraka— lord of the 8th and 11th, not the 2nd or 7th; the verse names it a killer all the same (34.23–24) |
| Mithun (Gemini) | Mesh (Aries) | Friendly | 7th and 10th | Malefic— lord of the 7th, but the killer the verse names for this lagna is Chandra (34.25–26) |
| Kark (Cancer) | Vrishabh (Taurus) | Enemy | 6th and 9th | Benefic |
| Singh (Leo) | Mithun (Gemini) | Enemy | 5th and 8th | Benefic |
| Kanya (Virgo) | Kark (Cancer) | Exalted | 4th and 7th | Malefic— lord of the 7th, but the killer the verse names for this lagna is Shukra (34.31–32) |
| Tula (Libra) | Singh (Leo) | Friendly | 3rd and 6th | Malefic · Maraka— lord of the 3rd and 6th, not the 2nd or 7th; the verse names it a killer all the same (34.33–34) |
| Vrishchik (Scorpio) | Kanya (Virgo) | Enemy | 2nd and 5th | Benefic— lord of the 2nd, but the killer the verse names for this lagna is Shukra (34.35–36) |

| Makar (Capricorn) | Vrishchik (Scorpio) | Friendly | 3rd and 12th | Malefic |
| Kumbh (Aquarius) | Dhanu (Sagittarius) | Own rashi | 2nd and 11th | Malefic · Maraka |
| Meen (Pisces) | Makar (Capricorn) | Debilitated | 1st and 10th | Benefic · Yoga— gives yoga together with Mangal (34.44) |
Guru’s state in each rashi, and the houses it rules for each lagna, as our free kundli reads them (BPHS chapter 34); each house links to what Parashara says of its lord sitting in the 11th. “Its state there” is how that rashi treats Guru: exalted, own, friendly, neutral (sam), enemy or debilitated. “For this lagna” is Parashara’s verdict on the houses it rules. The two answer different questions.
The labels, from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, chapter 34:
Take Kark lagna. Guru sits in Vrishabh there (enemy) and rules your 6th and 9th houses, which makes it a benefic for Kark lagna (BPHS 34). The two pull apart: the label says what it does for this lagna, the rashi how much strength it has to do it, so it gives less of that good than its label promises. The Lal Kitab reading above is the same for every lagna; this row is the part that changes with yours.
By Brihat Jataka 20.11, Guru in the 11th house gives its good in full for Kanya lagna, half for Vrishabh and Kumbh lagna, a quarter for Mithun, Tula and Makar lagna, little for Kark, Singh, Vrishchik and Dhanu lagna and none for Meen lagna, by the rashi it sits in. The verse gives no share for a neutral rashi, which is where it sits for Mesh lagna. BJ 20.10–11
Not the birth placement above: here Guru is moving through the 11th counted from your Moon rashi. Phaladeepika counts the 11th among Guru’s good transit houses (all twelve, on the Guru page). Our Monthly Prediction reads it as very good: big gains, wealth, success, wishes fulfilled.
Lal Kitab counts it a good placement, one of the 7 houses where Guru does well (with the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 9th). By its rashi, it is strongest for Vrishabh, Kanya and Kumbh lagna; it is debilitated for Meen lagna.
Lal Kitab’s upay for it: Offer bananas and turmeric at a temple on Thursdays.
The 3rd (younger siblings), 5th (children) and 7th (marriage).
