What Shani gives in the 11th house by Lal Kitab and by Phaladeepika, its upay, the houses it looks at from there, and what it means for each lagna.
Saturn in the 11th house gives delayed but stable income, loyal friends, and fulfilment of desires after the age of 36.
Lal Kitab reads Shani in the 11th house by the house, not by your lagna; Parashara’s view for your own lagna is further down, and Phaladeepika and Brihat Jataka may differ. How Lal Kitab and Parashara differ · Lal Kitab: pakka ghar, rin and upay

This is Lal Kitab’s one upay for Shani in the 11th house, to keep its good results strong; it is a suggestion, and your whole kundli may call for another. All upay for Shani
Phaladeepika 8.24 counts Shani (Saturn) in the 11th house (the house of gains) as a strong placement. The text gives a long life, lasting wealth and a good income, courage and freedom from disease.
How much of this holds turns on the rest of the chart: the rashi Shani sits in, the 11th house’s lord and the grahas with it or looking at it. The old texts speak of a man; their readings apply to anyone.
BJ 20.9 gives Shani in the 11th the same result as the Sun there (20.3): wealth.
Its results show most in Shani’s own mahadasha (19 years) and in its antardashas inside the others. The 11th house’s matters also come forward in the periods of the house’s lord, which depends on your lagna.
Its drishti (a graha’s glance: the houses it looks at feel its influence) from the 11th, by the rules our kundli reading weighs houses with:
The 11th house, Labha bhava, rules income, gains, elder siblings and friends; it is an upachaya (the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th houses, which grow better with time and effort); its karaka (the graha that naturally signifies a house’s matters, whatever the lagna) is Guru. The 11th house, and every graha in it
| Lagna | Shani sits in | Its state there | Lord of your | For this lagna |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mesh (Aries) | Kumbh (Aquarius) | Own rashi | 10th and 11th | Malefic |
| Vrishabh (Taurus) | Meen (Pisces) | Neutral | 9th and 10th | Yogakaraka |
| Mithun (Gemini) | Mesh (Aries) | Debilitated | 8th and 9th | Neutral |
| Kark (Cancer) | Vrishabh (Taurus) | Friendly | 7th and 8th | Maraka |
| Singh (Leo) | Mithun (Gemini) | Friendly | 6th and 7th | Malefic · Maraka |

| Tula (Libra) | Singh (Leo) | Enemy | 4th and 5th | Yogakaraka |
| Vrishchik (Scorpio) | Kanya (Virgo) | Friendly | 3rd and 4th | Malefic |
| Dhanu (Sagittarius) | Tula (Libra) | Exalted | 2nd and 3rd | Maraka |
| Makar (Capricorn) | Vrishchik (Scorpio) | Enemy | 1st and 2nd | Neutral— the lagna lord; not a killer on his own, the verse says (34.39) |
| Kumbh (Aquarius) | Dhanu (Sagittarius) | Neutral | 1st and 12th | Benefic— the lagna lord, and one the verse itself names auspicious for Kumbh (34.41) |
| Meen (Pisces) | Makar (Capricorn) | Own rashi | 11th and 12th | Malefic · Maraka— lord of the 11th and 12th, not the 2nd or 7th; the verse names it a killer all the same (34.43–44) |
Shani’s state in each rashi, and the houses it rules for each lagna, as our free kundli reads them (BPHS chapter 34); each house links to what Parashara says of its lord sitting in the 11th. “Its state there” is how that rashi treats Shani: exalted, own, friendly, neutral (sam), enemy or debilitated. “For this lagna” is Parashara’s verdict on the houses it rules. The two answer different questions.
The labels, from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, chapter 34:
Take Tula lagna. Shani sits in Singh there (enemy) and rules your 4th and 5th houses, which makes it a yogakaraka for Tula lagna (BPHS 34). The two pull apart: the label says what it does for this lagna, the rashi how much strength it has to do it, so it gives less of that good than its label promises. Its drishti falls on the 5th house, which it rules for this lagna, so there the glance is not counted against it. The Lal Kitab reading above is the same for every lagna; this row is the part that changes with yours.
Brihat Jataka 20.11 grades how much of its good a graha gives by the rashi it sits in. For a malefic like Shani the translator reverses the scale and the commentators differ, so read Shani in the 11th house by Parashara’s table above. BJ 20.10–11
Not the birth placement above: here Shani is moving through the 11th counted from your Moon rashi. Phaladeepika counts the 11th among Shani’s good transit houses (all twelve, on the Shani page). Our Monthly Prediction reads it as very good: steady gains, lasting success, results of effort.
Lal Kitab counts it a good placement, one of the 6 houses where Shani does well (with the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th). By its rashi, it is strongest for Mesh, Dhanu and Meen lagna; it is debilitated for Mithun lagna.
