What Chandra gives in the 7th house by Lal Kitab and by Phaladeepika, its upay, the houses it looks at from there, and what it means for each lagna.
The Moon in the 7th house gives a beautiful and supportive spouse. Business partnerships are favourable.
Lal Kitab reads Chandra in the 7th house by the house, not by your lagna; Parashara’s view for your own lagna is further down, and Phaladeepika and Brihat Jataka may differ. How Lal Kitab and Parashara differ · Lal Kitab: pakka ghar, rin and upay
Keep a silver ball or piece with you always.
This is Lal Kitab’s one upay for Chandra in the 7th house, to keep its good results strong; it is a suggestion, and your whole kundli may call for another. All upay for Chandra
Phaladeepika 8.6 holds that Chandra (Moon) in the 7th house (the house of marriage and partnership) makes a person pleasant to look at and exceedingly attractive. The text adds the love of a beautiful partner.
How much of this holds turns on the rest of the chart: the rashi Chandra sits in, the 7th house’s lord and the grahas with it or looking at it. The old texts speak of a man; their readings apply to anyone.
BJ 20.5: the Moon in the 7th makes one envious and deeply given to love.
Its results show most in Chandra’s own mahadasha (10 years) and in its antardashas inside the others. The 7th house’s matters also come forward in the periods of the house’s lord, which depends on your lagna.
Its drishti (a graha’s glance: the houses it looks at feel its influence) from the 7th, by the rules our kundli reading weighs houses with:
The 7th house, Kalatra bhava, rules marriage, spouse, partnerships and business deals; it is a kendra (one of the four angles of the chart, the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses, where a graha acts with most force) and a maraka house (literally “killer”: a graha or house watched in matters of health and longevity); its karaka (the graha that naturally signifies a house’s matters, whatever the lagna) is Shukra. The 7th house, and every graha in it
| Lagna | Chandra sits in | Its state there | Lord of your | For this lagna |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mesh (Aries) | Tula (Libra) | Neutral | 4th | Neutral |
| Vrishabh (Taurus) | Vrishchik (Scorpio) | Debilitated | 3rd | Malefic · Maraka— lord of the 3rd only, not the 2nd or 7th; the verse names it a killer all the same (34.23–24) |
| Mithun (Gemini) | Dhanu (Sagittarius) | Neutral | 2nd | Maraka |
| Kark (Cancer) | Makar (Capricorn) | Neutral | 1st | Benefic |
| Singh (Leo) | Kumbh (Aquarius) | Neutral | 12th | Maraka— lord of the 12th only, not the 2nd or 7th; the verse names it a killer all the same (34.29–30) |
| Kanya (Virgo) | Meen (Pisces) | Neutral | 11th | Malefic |
| Tula (Libra) | Mesh (Aries) | Neutral | 10th | Neutral · Yoga— gives yoga together with Budh (34.34) |
| Vrishchik (Scorpio) | Vrishabh (Taurus) | Exalted | 9th | Yogakaraka— as the verse names it, together with Surya, the 10th lord (34.35–36) |
| Dhanu (Sagittarius) | Mithun (Gemini) | Friendly | 8th | Neutral |
| Makar (Capricorn) | Kark (Cancer) | Own rashi | 7th | Malefic— lord of the 7th, but the killer the verse names for this lagna is Mangal (34.39–40) |
| Kumbh (Aquarius) | Singh (Leo) | Friendly | 6th | Malefic |
| Meen (Pisces) | Kanya (Virgo) | Friendly | 5th | Benefic |
Chandra’s state in each rashi, and the houses it rules for each lagna, as our free kundli reads them (BPHS chapter 34); each house links to what Parashara says of its lord sitting in the 7th. “Its state there” is how that rashi treats Chandra: exalted, own, friendly, neutral (sam), enemy or debilitated. “For this lagna” is Parashara’s verdict on the houses it rules. The two answer different questions.
The labels, from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, chapter 34:
Take Vrishchik lagna. Chandra sits in Vrishabh there (exalted) and rules your 9th house, which makes it a yogakaraka for Vrishchik lagna (BPHS 34). Both point the same way, a graha good for the lagna and strong in its rashi: the best this table holds. The Lal Kitab reading above is the same for every lagna; this row is the part that changes with yours.
By Brihat Jataka 20.11, Chandra in the 7th house gives its good in full for Vrishchik lagna, half for Makar lagna, a quarter for Dhanu, Kumbh and Meen lagna and none for Vrishabh lagna, by the rashi it sits in. The verse gives no share for a neutral rashi, which is where it sits for Mesh, Mithun, Kark, Singh, Kanya and Tula lagna. BJ 20.10–11
Not the birth placement above: here Chandra is moving through the 7th counted from your Moon rashi. Phaladeepika counts the 7th among Chandra’s good transit houses (all twelve, on the Chandra page). Our Monthly Prediction reads it as good: good relations, happiness, success with people.
Lal Kitab counts it a good placement, one of the 8 houses where Chandra does well (with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th and 11th). By its rashi, it is strongest for Vrishchik and Makar lagna; it is debilitated for Vrishabh lagna.
Lal Kitab’s upay for it: Keep a silver ball or piece with you always.
