Ketu mahadasha is about
letting go, the inward and the sudden
Ketu
Ketu antardasha in Ketu mahadasha runs 4 months 27 days. It is the first of the nine: every Ketu mahadasha opens with it.
Ketu’s 7 years × Ketu’s 7 years again ÷ 120
4 months 27 days · 149 days
Shukra antardasha follows it.
Every mahadasha opens with its own lord’s antardasha. For these months Ketu rules both levels alone, so its matters show at their plainest.
letting go, the inward and the sudden

For faith and journeys, Parashara’s verses on Ketu–Ketu give nothing of their own; there Ketu’s place in your kundli decides.
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, chapter 59, verses 1–6
Parashara reads Ketu’s own antardasha by where Ketu sits from the lagna and by what it rules; your kundli shows which line is yours, and though the text speaks of a man, its results apply to anyone.
For relief, BPHS prescribes recitation of the Durga Saptashati and the Mahamrityunjaya japa, the mantra to Shiva for health and long life.
BPHS 59.6A caution: When Ketu is connected with the lord of your 2nd or 7th house, or sits in the 2nd or 7th, BPHS treats it as a maraka caution (the 2nd and 7th being the houses the texts link with danger to life). It warns of danger from illness, great distress and separation from relatives, and asks for care with health. BPHS 59.5–6
Ketu rules no house, so no lagna makes its own antardasha good or bad by lordship
Each gives the results of the house it sits in and of the lord of that rashi: Ketu in each house
One kundli that meets Ketu–Ketu at 67, read the way the report reads yours
From the Janam Kundli report
Ketu sits in your 12th house: this period brings its matters forward — spending, sleep, foreign places, and what is given away. A node gives the results of the lord of its sign: here Mangal, which rules your 5th house and 12th house and sits in your 11th house. Mixed — its sign's lord well placed; on the other side: a difficult house.
In this kundli it runs 21 August 2051 – 17 January 2052, at the age of 67. Its length here can differ from the one above by a day, because each kundli’s dates round to the day.
Ketu: sits in your 12th house. It brings spending, sleep, foreign places, and what is given away. Read as the Ketu mahadasha above: its own sub-period.
Ketu–Ketu divides into nine pratyantars from Ketu’s own on. Each length is counted between the dates beside it, and comes out the same in any kundli give or take a day; the dates and readings are this one’s.
| Pratyantar | Length | In this kundli | The report reads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ketu | 9 days | 21 August 2051 – 30 August 2051 | Mixed |
| Shukra | 25 days | 30 August 2051 – 24 September 2051 | Mixed |
| Surya | 7 days | 24 September 2051 – 1 October 2051 | Mixed |
| Chandra | 13 days | 1 October 2051 – 14 October 2051 | Care |
| Mangal | 8 days | 14 October 2051 – 22 October 2051 | Opens |
| Rahu | 23 days | 22 October 2051 – 14 November 2051 | Mixed |
| Guru | 20 days | 14 November 2051 – 4 December 2051 | Mixed |
| Shani | 23 days | 4 December 2051 – 27 December 2051 | Care |
| Budh | 21 days | 27 December 2051 – 17 January 2052 | Mixed |

Parashara gives Ketu–Ketu a remedy of its own (BPHS 59.6), set out above under “Parashara’s remedy”; it comes first.

Daan: a blanket and sesame, on Tuesday
What helps and what to keep clear of in any Ketu period: Ketu mahadasha. Its vrat, ratna, stotra and puja: Ketu upay.
4 months 27 days (149 days). It is the first antardasha of every Ketu mahadasha.
Not in advance: it turns on your lagna and on where Ketu sits in your kundli. Ketu has no lagna of its own to be good or bad for; it gives the results of the lord of the rashi it sits in. On the Dhanu lagna kundli above, the Janam Kundli report reads it as “Mixed”, as its chip above says.
Nine, in the order Ketu, Shukra, Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Rahu, Guru, Shani, Budh. Each is Ketu–Ketu’s length × the pratyantar lord’s years ÷ 120, so the longest is Shukra’s, about 25 days, and the shortest Surya’s, about 7 days.
Parashara gives this antardasha a remedy of its own (BPHS 59.6), set out above under “Parashara’s remedy”. The Ketu beej mantra, Om Sraam Sreem Sraum Sah Ketave Namah, and a daan of a blanket and sesame on Tuesday are the everyday upay for Ketu–Ketu, where your kundli shows the need.
