Vimshottari · 81 periods
Each mahadasha divides into nine antardashas. Here are all 81: how long each runs, the order they come in, and a page for each one.
An antardasha runs for the mahadasha lord’s years × the antardasha lord’s years ÷ 120, rounded to the day. Each cell opens its page.
Every mahadasha opens with its own lord’s antardasha and then goes round the cycle from there, in the order Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury. Saturn mahadasha, for one, runs Saturn, Mercury, Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter.
Parashara’s way (BPHS chapters 52 to 60), and the way the Janam Kundli report reads yours
Each pair’s page reads it on a real kundli this way, with its nine pratyantars. The dasha calculator finds which one you are in.
A sub-period inside a mahadasha. Each of the nine mahadashas divides into nine antardashas, so a full cycle has 81, and the antardasha lord colours the mahadasha for its length.
Multiply the two grahas’ mahadasha years and divide by 120. Rahu antardasha in Saturn mahadasha is 19 × 18 ÷ 120 = 2.85 years, which is 2 years 10 months 6 days.
The third level: each antardasha divides into nine pratyantars, starting with its own lord, each its share of the antardasha by the same years ÷ 120. Inside Shani–Rahu, which runs 2 years 10 months 6 days, Rahu’s own pratyantar runs 5 months 4 days.
The longest is Venus in Venus, 3 years 4 months; the shortest the Sun in the Sun, 3 months 18 days.
It follows from the Moon’s nakshatra at your birth. Enter your birth details and the whole 120-year timeline comes with it, each period read for your chart.
