Parashara reads Ketu’s antardasha in Shukra’s mahadasha by where Ketu sits, counted from the lagna and from Shukra, and by what it rules; your kundli shows which line is yours, and though the text speaks of a man, its results apply to anyone.
When it goes well
- When Ketu is in his exaltation or own sign, or is connected with a yogakaraka graha (one especially auspicious for that lagna, usually as lord of both a kendra and a trikona), or has positional strength (dig bala), BPHS gives, from the very start of the antardasha, sweet foods, unusual gains in one's profession and growth in livestock. It says the middle gives moderate results, with some distress at times, and the end brings sure victory over rivals.BPHS 60.67–69½
When it is hard
- When Ketu is in the 8th or 12th, counted from Shukra (Venus), the mahadasha lord, or is joined by a malefic graha, BPHS warns of danger from snakes, thieves and wounds, clouded thinking, headache, anguish, quarrels without cause, diabetes, heavy spending, friction with the spouse and children, going away to foreign lands, and losses in ventures.BPHS 60.70–72
Parashara’s remedy
For relief, BPHS prescribes the Mahamrityunjaya japa, the mantra to Shiva for health and long life, and giving a goat in charity. It adds that the remedies for pleasing Shukra also help.
BPHS 60.74A caution: When Ketu sits in your 2nd or 7th house or is joined with the lords of those houses, BPHS warns of physical distress and asks for care with health. The 2nd and 7th are the maraka houses, which the texts link with danger to life. BPHS 60.73
