Parashara reads Shukra’s antardasha in Ketu’s mahadasha by where Shukra sits, counted from the lagna and from Ketu, and by what it rules; your kundli shows which line is yours, and though the text speaks of a man, its results apply to anyone.
When it goes well
- When Shukra (Venus) is in his exaltation or own sign, or is joined with the lord of the 10th house in a kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house) or trikona (the 1st, 5th or 9th house), BPHS gives the favour of those in power, good fortune, gains of clothes, the regaining of a lost position of authority, the comfort of vehicles, pilgrimage, and gains of land or property through those in power.BPHS 59.7–9½
- When Shukra (Venus), joined with the 10th lord in a kendra or trikona as above, is also joined with the lord of the 9th house, BPHS gives a rise in fortune.BPHS 59.7–9½

- When Shukra (Venus) is in the 6th, 8th or 12th, counted from Ketu, the mahadasha lord, BPHS warns of quarrels without cause, loss of wealth and trouble to livestock.BPHS 59.12
- When Shukra (Venus) is in his debilitation sign (neecha rashi, where a graha is weakest), is joined with a debilitated graha, or is in the 6th or 8th house, BPHS warns of quarrels with relatives, headaches, eye trouble, heart trouble, a damaged reputation, loss of wealth, and distress to livestock and the spouse.BPHS 59.13–14
Parashara’s remedy
For relief, BPHS prescribes the Durga Path (recitation of the Durga Saptashati) and giving a tawny (kapila) cow or a female buffalo in charity.
BPHS 59.15A caution: When Shukra rules your 2nd or 7th house (the maraka houses, which the texts link with danger to life), BPHS warns of physical distress and mental anguish, and asks for care with health. BPHS 59.15
