Ketu mahadasha is about
letting go, the inward and the sudden
Ketu · Chandra
Chandra antardasha in Ketu mahadasha runs 7 months. It is the fourth of the nine and begins 1 year 11 months 3 days after the mahadasha starts.
Ketu’s 7 years × Chandra’s 10 years ÷ 120
7 months · 213 days
Surya antardasha comes before it, and Mangal antardasha after it.
Ketu counts Chandra an enemy, and Chandra counts Ketu neither friend nor enemy (neutral). That natural relationship is where reading a Ketu–Chandra period starts; where Ketu and Chandra sit in your kundli decides what it brings. Texts differ on the friendships of Rahu and Ketu; this is the table the kundli here uses.

Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, chapter 59, verses 25–36
Parashara reads Chandra’s antardasha in Ketu’s mahadasha by where Chandra sits, counted from the lagna and from Ketu, and by what it rules; your kundli shows which line is yours, and though the text speaks of a man, its results apply to anyone.
For relief, BPHS prescribes reciting the mantras of Chandra and giving in charity the things associated with Chandra.
BPHS 59.36A caution: When Chandra rules your 2nd, 7th or 8th house, BPHS treats this as a maraka caution (one the texts link with danger to life). It warns of the danger of an untimely death and asks for care with health. BPHS 59.35
What Chandra is for each lagna, as Parashara lists it; Ketu follows the lord of its rashi
The labels, from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, chapter 34:
| Lagna | Chandra is (lord of) |
|---|---|
| Mesh (Aries) | Neutral 4th |
| Vrishabh (Taurus) | Malefic · Maraka— lord of the 3rd only, not the 2nd or 7th; the verse names it a killer all the same (34.23–24) 3rd |
| Mithun (Gemini) | Maraka 2nd |
| Kark (Cancer) | Benefic 1st |
| Singh (Leo) | Maraka— lord of the 12th only, not the 2nd or 7th; the verse names it a killer all the same (34.29–30) 12th |
| Kanya (Virgo) | Malefic 11th |
| Tula (Libra) | Neutral · Yoga— gives yoga together with Budh (34.34) 10th |
| Vrishchik (Scorpio) | Yogakaraka— as the verse names it, together with Surya, the 10th lord (34.35–36) 9th |
| Dhanu (Sagittarius) | Neutral 8th |
| Makar (Capricorn) | Malefic— lord of the 7th, but the killer the verse names for this lagna is Mangal (34.39–40) 7th |
| Kumbh (Aquarius) | Malefic 6th |
| Meen (Pisces) | Benefic 5th |
Ketu rules no house, so no lagna makes it good or bad by lordship: it gives the results of the house it sits in and of the lord of that rashi. Ketu in each house shows how.
One kundli that meets Ketu–Chandra at 69, read the way the report reads yours
From the Janam Kundli report
Ketu sits in your 12th house: this period brings its matters forward — spending, sleep, foreign places, and what is given away. A node gives the results of the lord of its sign: here Mangal, which rules your 5th house and 12th house and sits in your 11th house. Mixed — its sign's lord well placed; on the other side: a difficult house.
In this kundli it runs 24 July 2053 – 22 February 2054, from the age of 69 to 70. Its length here can differ from the one above by a day, because each kundli’s dates round to the day.
Chandra: rules your 8th house, sits in your 11th house. It brings hidden matters, delay, and other people's money. Go carefully — at a hard angle from Ketu and short of Shadbala; on the other side: a house of wealth or gain.
Shadbala: the six-fold measure of a graha’s strength the report computes; “short of Shadbala” means below the strength the texts ask of it.
Ketu–Chandra divides into nine pratyantars from Chandra’s own on. Each length is counted between the dates beside it, and comes out the same in any kundli give or take a day; the dates and readings are this one’s.
| Pratyantar | Length | In this kundli | The report reads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chandra | 18 days | 24 July 2053 – 11 August 2053 | Mixed |
| Mangal | 13 days | 11 August 2053 – 24 August 2053 | Opens |
| Rahu | 1 month 1 day | 24 August 2053 – 25 September 2053 | Care |
| Guru | 28 days | 25 September 2053 – 23 October 2053 | Mixed |
| Shani | 1 month 3 days | 23 October 2053 – 26 November 2053 | Mixed |
| Budh | 1 month | 26 November 2053 – 26 December 2053 | Mixed |
| Ketu | 12 days | 26 December 2053 – 7 January 2054 | Mixed |
| Shukra | 1 month 5 days | 7 January 2054 – 12 February 2054 | Mixed |
| Surya | 10 days | 12 February 2054 – 22 February 2054 | Mixed |

Suggestions for Chandra’s months, which your kundli confirms
Parashara gives Ketu–Chandra a remedy of its own (BPHS 59.36), set out above under “Parashara’s remedy”; it comes first.
ॐ श्रां श्रीं श्रौं सः चन्द्राय नमः
Daan: rice and white cloth, on Monday
What helps and what to keep clear of in any Chandra period: Chandra mahadasha. Its vrat, ratna, stotra and puja: Chandra upay.
7 months (213 days): Ketu’s 7 years × Chandra’s 10 years ÷ 120. It begins 1 year 11 months 3 days after a Ketu mahadasha starts.
Not in advance: it turns on your lagna and on where Ketu and Chandra sit in your kundli. Ketu has no lagna of its own to be good or bad for; it gives the results of the lord of the rashi it sits in. Chandra is favourable for Kark (Cancer), Vrishchik (Scorpio), Meen (Pisces) lagna. Chandra is hard for Vrishabh (Taurus), Mithun (Gemini), Singh (Leo), Kanya (Virgo), Makar (Capricorn), Kumbh (Aquarius) lagna. By nature the friendship is uneven: Ketu sees Chandra as an enemy, and Chandra sees Ketu as neutral. On the Dhanu lagna kundli above, the Janam Kundli report reads it as “Care”, as its chip above says.
Nine, in the order Chandra, Mangal, Rahu, Guru, Shani, Budh, Ketu, Shukra, Surya. Each is Ketu–Chandra’s length × the pratyantar lord’s years ÷ 120, so the longest is Shukra’s, about 1 month 5 days, and the shortest Surya’s, about 10 days.
Parashara gives this antardasha a remedy of its own (BPHS 59.36), set out above under “Parashara’s remedy”. The Chandra beej mantra, Om Shraam Shreem Shraum Sah Chandraya Namah, and a daan of rice and white cloth on Monday are the everyday upay for Ketu–Chandra, where your kundli shows the need.
