Parashara reads Rahu’s antardasha in Shukra’s mahadasha by where Rahu sits, counted from the lagna and from Shukra, and by what it rules; your kundli shows which line is yours, and though the text speaks of a man, its results apply to anyone.
When it goes well
- When Rahu is in a kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house), a trikona (the 1st, 5th or 9th house) or the 11th house, or in his exaltation or own sign, or is joined or aspected by benefic grahas, BPHS gives great enjoyment, gains of wealth, visits from friends, successful journeys, and gains of livestock and land.BPHS 60.36–37½
- When Rahu is in the 3rd, 6th, 10th or 11th house, BPHS gives enjoyment, victory over rivals, enthusiasm and the favour of those in power. Apart from obstacles in ventures and journeys and some worries, there is comfort fit for a king; journeys abroad succeed and one returns home safely; and there are blessings from Brahmins and good results from visits to holy places. Good results last about five months from the start of the antardasha; at its end the text warns of fevers and indigestion.BPHS 60.38–41½
When it is hard
- When Rahu is joined by a malefic graha in the 8th or 12th, counted from Shukra (Venus), the mahadasha lord, BPHS warns of inauspicious effects for oneself and one's parents, and friction with people.BPHS 60.42–43
Parashara’s remedy
For relief, BPHS prescribes the Mahamrityunjaya japa, the mantra to Shiva for health and long life.
BPHS 60.44A caution: When Rahu sits in your 2nd or 7th house or is joined with the lords of those houses, BPHS warns of physical distress and asks for care with health. The 2nd and 7th are the maraka houses, which the texts link with danger to life. BPHS 60.43–44
