Parashara reads Shukra’s antardasha in Rahu’s mahadasha by where Shukra sits, counted from the lagna and from Rahu, and by what it rules; your kundli shows which line is yours, and though the text speaks of a man, its results apply to anyone.
When it goes well
- When Shukra (Venus) is strong and stands in a kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house), in a trikona (the 1st, 5th or 9th house), or in the 11th house, BPHS gives wealth through Brahmins, more livestock, celebrations for the birth of a son, well-being and recognition from the government. It also gives a rise to authority or a high government post, and great enjoyment and comfort.BPHS 55.46–47½
- When Shukra (Venus) is exalted, in his own sign, or in his exalted or own navamsha (the ninth-part division of a sign), BPHS gives the building of a new house, sweet food, happiness from spouse and children, time with friends, giving grain and the like in charity, and favour from those in power. It also gives vehicles and clothes, unusual profit in business, and a sacred-thread ceremony (upanayana, the janeu) in the family.BPHS 55.48–50½
- When Shukra (Venus) is in a kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house), in a trikona (the 1st, 5th or 9th house), or in the 11th or 10th house, counted from Rahu, the mahadasha lord (ruler of the main period), BPHS gives the pleasures of fragrance, a comfortable bed and music, the gain of something long wanted, and wishes fulfilled.BPHS 55.54–55½
When it is hard
- When Shukra (Venus) is in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, debilitated or in an enemy's sign, or joined by Shani, Mangal or Rahu, BPHS warns of illness, quarrels, separation from a son or from the father, distress to kinsmen and disputes with those who share the family property. It also warns of danger to one's own life or an employer's, unhappiness for spouse and children, and stomach pain.BPHS 55.51–53½
- When Shukra (Venus) is joined by malefics (the naturally harsh grahas) in the 6th, 8th or 12th house counted from Rahu, the mahadasha lord (ruler of the main period), BPHS warns of danger from the anger of Brahmins, from snakes and from the authorities. It names illnesses such as retention of urine, diabetes, blood disorders and anaemia, along with nervous disorders. It also warns of coarse food only, imprisonment, and loss of money through government fines or penalties.BPHS 55.56–59
Parashara’s remedy
For relief from these troubles, BPHS prescribes the worship of Goddess Durga and Goddess Lakshmi.
